THE BEAUTY AND DRAMA OF THE HUMAN BODY
2010 · Exhibition of Faculty Members of the Department of Monumental Painting, Lviv National Academy of Arts
The Beauty and Drama of the Human Body brought together artists from different generations, with varied creative experience and distinct artistic languages, around the theme of the human figure.
For me, this exhibition is connected to an important period in my professional development. After completing my studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, I began teaching at the Department of Monumental Painting at the Lviv National Academy of Arts in 2005. I worked there until 2010.
As a young lecturer, I found myself working alongside artists and teachers of an older generation: Professors Liubomyr Medvid, Alfred Maksymenko, Viktor Moskaliuk, and Mykola Shymchuk, as well as Mykola Andrushchenko. I was able to observe different approaches to teaching, learn from their experience, and gradually develop my own.
I taught the core studio disciplines: composition, drawing, painting, and working with materials. Later, I also supervised diploma projects. In this way, the experience I had gained in Kraków gradually entered into dialogue with the traditions of the Lviv art school.
The exhibition offered a glimpse into that environment. Works by established masters of the department appeared alongside those of younger artist-educators. For me, it was more than an exhibition: it was an experience of dialogue between generations, between tradition and new exploration, and between the teaching practices I was learning from and the artistic position I was forming for myself.
