Insomnia IV continues the exploration of a state in which external reality gradually gives way to the inner space of memory, emotion, and imagination. Night becomes not simply a time of day, but a particular environment of consciousness, where lived experience returns in fragments — sometimes distinct, sometimes almost elusive.
Deep blues and dark planes form a dense painterly space through which accents of yellow, pink, green, and white emerge. They appear like brief flashes of memory — traces of images, presence, and emotion that never form a complete narrative, yet continue to exist within consciousness.
Vertical movements of paint, scratches, layers, and partially concealed fragments of colour create a sense of simultaneous emergence and disappearance. The surface of the canvas becomes a kind of territory of memory, where one image covers another, leaving behind only a trace.
Within the context of the Insomnia series, the work reflects on the impossibility of completely letting go of what has been experienced. What already belongs to the past continues to remain present — not as a specific image, but as colour, rhythm, an impulse of light, an inner sensation.
Insomnia IV exists on the threshold between presence and disappearance, between memory and forgetting. The image almost dissolves, yet its energy remains.
